Colleges And Universities

If you're thinking of getting an education along with a new home, Riverside is an excellent choice. It has everything from top-tier universities to small career training schools. Here is an overview of the post-secondary schools you'll have to choose from in Riverside, California.

University of California, Riverside

One of ten UC campuses, UC Riverside is a public university that is ranked 15th on US News and World Report's rankings for scientific research. The school also ranks in the top tier for undergraduate programs, which include the usual ones like science, humanities, computers, and business alongside disciplines more useful to Riverside, like natural and agricultural sciences. Its sporting team, the Highlanders, plays in NCAA Division I. This is a great school to choose if you want a top end career in food public relations, scientific research, or any discipline requiring a degree and also if you want a sports scholarship. Current enrollment is around 18,000.

California Baptist University

As its name suggests, California Baptist University adheres to the Baptist faith and is privately owned. Programs offered at CBU include communication, history, visual arts, political science, kinesiology, languages, math, literature, education, business, engineering, nursing and music like a secular college, as well as a special program in Christian ministering. This is a good school to attend if you would like to prepare for a good career at a Canadian trade mark firm while keeping Christ at the center of your life. Current enrollment is around 4,000.

La Sierra University

La Sierrra University is another small, private, post-secondary Christian school, this one espousing the Seventh-day Adventist faith. It is a major feeder school for Loma Linda University, Seventh-day's health sciences campus in San Bernardino. You can choose arts, sciences, business, religion or education as your faculty and it's a good place to start if you have health care ambitions beyond opening a veterinarian clinic. London, Ontario and other cities have no education options in this faith, so schools like this draw in students from all over. Current enrollment is around 2,000.

Riverside Community College

Riverside Community College is a combined junior college and career training institute. Students can use it as a springboard to enter four-year programs in universities, earn an associate degree, or get hands-on training in a skilled trade. This is where you'll want to enroll if you weren't accepted to university and you need to upgrade or you'd like to have a career working complex machinery for a strapping machine manufacturer. Programs range from Accounting to Welding Technology, with many skills, languages, and degree fields in between. Current enrollment is around 35,000.

Kaplan College

If you're looking to train for a career in a health care profession, Kaplan College may be for you. Programs offered also include business and information technology, making it a good study school for anyone looking to get into internet project management. This private, for-profit university doesn't train doctors or computer programmers, rather assistant-type professions such as licensed practical nurses, paralegals, and computer support technicians. Kaplan College is part of a nationwide system of similar campuses.
